Private Utility Locating

BJAAM Environmental, Inc. performs utility investigations in order to reduce the risk of encountering, damaging or puncturing a subsurface utility pipe or line, or other subsurface obstruction during any excavations or drilling activities. In addition to compromising the safety of workers and bystanders, the consequences of hitting a utility are almost always very costly to the business on the property and the efficient completion of your project. Insufficient utility locating prior to digging or drilling significantly increases the risk of hitting such subsurface obstructions.

There are many things lurking beneath the surface...

..of a proposed excavation or drilling site. Unlike simpler sites that may just have the usual water line, gas pipe, and sewer and storm lines, most corrective actions sites tend to be much more complex, with fiber optic telecommunications lines, control and relay stations, compressed gas, product feeder lines, all hiding below the surface. The potential for hitting a buried subsurface obstruction at one of these complex sites, such as a gas station or fueling depot, is greatly increased.

BJAAM can find and avoid them...

..by offering a complete locating service conducted by experienced professionals that have years of experience and are Certified by Staking University in locating utilities. Utilizing a variety of the most technologically advanced equipment available today, BJAAM can locate subsurface obstructions with a unique and impressive service that combines the following techniques:

One Call System - a system that serves as a single point of contact for contractors to notify all registered utilities in the vicinity of an excavation.

Ground Penetrating Radar - a subsurface imaging instrument that emits an electromagnetic pulse into the ground, records the echoes from those pulses, and builds an image from the echoes.

Magnetic Field Detection - an instrument that detects any magnetic fields a metallic object might have as it is encountered by the magnetic field induced into the ground by means of the instruments transmitter coil.

Wet Knife/Vacuum Excavation - a tow-behind system that safely exposes any utilities without damaging them, by using a combination of a high-velocity, water injection system, a powerful vacuum hose that follows it, and a large capacity holding tank for the spoils.
