Risk Assessment & Groundwater Modeling

BJAAM Environmental, Inc. is at the forefront in the implementation of risk based closures and corrective actions. BJAAM specializes in the development of site-specific clean up levels and has provided regulator education and assisted numerous governmental agencies in the development of risk based programs, both within the State of Ohio and other locations world-wide, including the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency and the governments of Argentina, Brazil, and Puerto Rico. Due to the continually evolving environmental technology, regulatory agencies and their related program disciplines have recognized risk assessment as a viable alternative to physical site remediation.

In conjunction with site-specific risk assessments, BJAAM professionals perform groundwater fate and transport modeling to reduce remediation costs at potentially contaminated properties. BJAAM provides expertise in chemical natural attenuation, contaminant transport, predicted contaminant loading, plume migration, geochemical fingerprinting, and leaching studies. In addition to groundwater fate and transport modeling, BJAAM has extensive experience in indoor air modeling, soil contaminate leaching modeling, as well as data validation and management.

Remediation Programs and Emergency Response Oversight and Rapid Remediation

BJAAM has brought together a group of scientist and engineers who utilize their combined expertise in remediation system design, system construction and operation, regulatory skills, and computer modeling to design sensible, cost effective Remedial Action Plans to resolve site-specific contamination problems. BJAAM employs a wide variety of state-of-the-are remediation technologies to address specific client/site requirements, including:

  • Dual Phase Extraction (DPE)
  • Soil Vapor Extraction (SVE)
  • Air Sparging
  • Bioventing
  • Groundwater Pump and Treat
  • Bioremediation

BJAAM has combined broad regulatory skills with an extensive knowledge of emergency clean-up technologies to provide project oversight during accidental fuel spills to ensure cleanup efficiency and reduce costs. At most sites, our rapid response remediation systems are operational within hours of an accidental release, and have been instrumental in mitigating the effects of petroleum releases in soil and ground water. Clients have saved millions of dollars as a result of the firm's innovative approach and use of proprietary technologies.

Environmental Site Assessment

In the past, Phase I ESAs were able to be completed by environmental firms and individuals with a varying degree of qualification. However, with the advent of the new US EPA All Appropriate Inquiry (AAI) legislation, the scope and nature of the Phase I ESA and choosing the appropriate Consultant has become increasingly more significant. BJAAM professionals have the knowledge and experience to complete the necessary AAI due diligence while meeting the specific project goal of each of our clients.

What separates BJAAM from typical environmental consultants is that BJAAM owns and operates our own field investigation equipment, including a new GeoprobeŽ 6620DT Direct Push Rig. Owning and operating our own field investigation equipment not only gives BJAAM a tremendous scheduling and project management advantage over typical environmental consulting firms, but also significantly reduces the cost of the investigation. BJAAM has completed a multitude of Phase I and Phase II ESAs for a variety of clientele, including:

  • Local and Regional Government

  • Private Industry

  • Legal Professionals

  • Commercial & Industrial Lending Institutions

  • Commercial & Industrial Real Estate Professionals
